Biography

Alice grew up in Hornepayne, Ontario. Fluent in her Oji-Cree language, she learned how to bead, sew and make moccasins at 14 years old from her mother Beatrice Bedwash. Alice regularly uses mink, rabbit, fox, raccoon and wolf furs along with moose and deer hides. While her specialty for the past 30 years has been making beautiful moccasins, she also enjoys making fur trapper hats, felt trapper hats, mitts, mukluks and baby moss bags. A versatile crafter, she also has been known to experiment with other beaded craft projects. Now residing in Hamilton, Ontario, you can see her gorgeous work annually at a few local pow-wows, or contact her directly for custom orders or information.
